Hey, welcome back to the blog! Kaz and the girls were finally able to film! It was a pretty sunny day and it was right before my group went on vacation for spring break. Jenna picked me up at from my house in the morning with Sof in the car. She brought her friend Amelia to help with filming as well. There were also more friends that met us at the location so the filming process could go smoother and there would be more actors in this opening sequence. Once Jenna picked me up, she drove to Hollywood to pick Kaz up. Jenna was circling Hollywood circle in her car for like 10 minutes waiting to find Kaz. It felt like a wild goose chase for him. After picking up Kaz, Jenna drove around Hollywood beach looking for the location. When my group got there, Jenna parked and all of us walked around the location of the abandoned mall. I first had Emilia film the opening shot off all of us in front of the location. It was so creepy looking. Part of it is abandoned but part of it it kind of occupie...
Hey there blogger! I am so excited to be back and researching for this movie genre. My group chose horror which i would say is my favorite genre of movies. I feel like i like to scare myself and then complain about how scared i was in the end. I recently watched the movie Smile, twice actually. I absolutely freaked out when i watched it but at the same time it was super cool and extremely well made. They definitely accomplish the horror aspect and unsettling part of the genre. This movie specifically has many conventions that create a shock to the audience. The sounds and props i feel like are huge part of what makes Smile, Smile. Just in the opening of the movie it has such diegetic eerie sounds that are hair grabbing. They also use props such as knives, axes and guns. The costumes and makeup in the end really depict the horror in the movie. There are also closeups, reserve shots, aerial shots which built up the scene and many camera angles and jumpscares which really build up the mov...
In this film it begins with flashbacks of this women when her husband was alive to the present after his passing. This is a common thing used in thrillers as it shows important events in the storyline and increases thrill or suspense. Next in this film, they incorporated the sound of the intruders scheming to break in and rummaging through things. A tracking shot is used to show the women going to her window to see what the sound was. Once she hears more, they used a close-up to see her peaking through the window once again. Multiple times midway through this film the camera cuts from the women on the phone with 911 to her baby crying. This is commonly used in thrillers to show multiple things going on. It also creates lots of activity. A lot of over the shoulder shots are used. It shows the door and the women on the phone and the sounds of banging are heard all the while. Extreme closeups are used to show the womens fear as the intruders are continuing to try the door. Yet another fla...
